Alton Plager
Alton is a graduate of Algonquin College,Ottawa. He has a Diploma in BusinessAdministration. He spent 14 years working for Gillan Fur Farms Inc. ending up as General Manager of the farm corporation.
Subsequently he became a Registered Insurance Broker of Ontario specializing in Commercial Insurance in addition to setting up and administering insurance programs. From 2000 on he has been a founder and C.E.O of the TQI group of companies which began as a start up company using hi-tech equipment to offer relevant data to the Insurance and Trucking companies in North America.
Peter Wanner
Peter is a 53-year old who has been a Certified General Accountant since 1981. Peter has spent time in public accounting, in various domestic and international manufacturing companies in various roles and was last employed by Canada’s 3rd largest airline as the VP Controller.
Since 1990 Mr. Wanner has been a consultant, acting as an Interim CFO for various companies in financial demand. A number of turnarounds have been successfully completed with companies in the service industry, software houses, manufacturers and airlines. Mr. Wanner has also worked with companies that are experiencing extremely high growth, doing financial planning and working with management to secure funding for that growth. Wanner has worked with an investment banker as it started up, airlines, software houses, Tier 1 automotive suppliers, a retailer of health services and a number of manufacturers. With these clients, Peter has been involved with bond financings, arranged private equity placements, negotiated and closed a number of bank facilities and been involved with several IPO’s. This work has been largely in Canada but has extended to the US on more than one occasion.
Mr. Wanner has been or is on a number of boards in the public sector – Ribbon Capital / Selectron, Baymount Corp, Trophy Capital / LMS Medical, Scorpio Capital / BDE Equities, AmeriChip International, Willowstar Corp and First National Power.
Mr. Wanner also volunteers his time to sit on the board of Mississauga Halton Critical Care Access Corp by appointment through an Order-In-Council and Georgetown SloPitch League a community league that he founded in 1990.
Douglas H. Johnston
President, DGI Group, Arnprior, Ontario, Canada
DGI Group engages in a variety of activities, consulting for small property management and land development concerns in addition to maintaining an interest in the insurance industry, providing advice to general insurance brokerages regarding program start-ups, acquisitions and mergers.
Prior to forming DGI Group in 2003, Johnston was Vice President of DCJ Insurance Brokers Ltd., a full service general insurance brokerage with multiple offices in eastern Ontario. During 17 years with DCJ, he focused on management systems and brokerage acquisitions, facilitated several group and target-market insurance programs as well as developing Lloyd’s of London portfolios, including underwriting, claims handling and policy issuance, within DCJ.
In 1999, Johnston was a founding partner of CAIP International Ltd., offering group insurance programs specifically designed for the needs of Canadian non-profit associations, maintaining an interest until 2005.
From 1984 to 1985 he was an underwriter with the Anglo-Gibraltar Insurance Group in London.
